FAQ'S

What is Zoom?

Zoom is a video conferencing tool that's free for meeting participants. It allows you to join a meeting and use your camera and microphone to interact with other meeting participants.

Is it complicated to use?

No! We chose Zoom because it's the simplest video conferencing tool that's currently available.

Do I have to download or install anything?

Yes! The first time you use Zoom, you'll have to install the Zoom application on your phone, tablet, or computer. It's very easy to do. You can install the application in advance, but you won't be able to join a meeting until it starts. If you've joined a Zoom meeting before you usually won't have to re-install the Zoom client - it should already be on your phone, tablet, or computer. If you're planning on joining a Zoom meeting and haven't installed the Zoom application, please install it a few minutes before the meeting begins. Watch the video instructions in the links below.

How do I install the Zoom application?

Click on the meeting link, and you'll go to the download page. The download should start automatically.

Can I use Zoom on my smartphone or tablet?

Yes! Go the App Store or Google Play and search for 'Zoom'. Install it as you would any other application. When the meeting starts, click on the link to launch the app, or enter the meeting ID in the Zoom application, if you have it open.

What is the Zoom Meeting ID?

The Zoom Meeting ID is the string of numbers at the end of the website address: For example:

https://us04web.zoom.us/j/684180557. The meeting id for this meeting would be 684180557.

What if I don't want someone to see or hear me?

You can turn off your video camera, microphone, or both at any time.

Can I text other meeting participants?

Yes! You can text, copy-and-paste, and share files in the Zoom chat box.

What if I'm late for a meeting?

The meeting organizer may allow participants to join a meeting that's already in progress.

What if I miss the meeting?

We'll be archiving past meetings and making them available on our website a day or two after they've finished.

Can I join from anywhere?

Yes! You can be anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection.

Do I have to have a password to join a meeting?

Most meetings may require a password. If a password is required, it will be listed along with the meeting ID.

Can I use Zoom if I don't have WiFi?

You can, but keep in mind that video uses a lot of data, so we recommend on being on a good WiFi connection so that you don't exceed any data limits on your mobile device plan. Data can be very expensive. If your connection is poor, you may not be able to view the video feed or stream your own video.

Is this going to be permanent?

We don't know yet. The coronavirus situation presents us with unique challenges, and we'll see how it goes. God never gives us a challenge without helping us through it (see Philippians 4:19). If we get good participation, we may make this a permanent part of our ministry offerings, but virtual meetings aren't a permanent substitute for meeting in person. As we said, we'll see how it goes and make a decision later.

Any tips?

Yes! Watch the videos below for a guided walk-through of setting up Zoom and joining a Zoom meeting.
