Music at St. Francis

We believe music to be a form of prayer, uniting the Body of Christ in one voice. Because music can move our souls in ways that even words cannot, we can use it to express our deepest prayers, longings and joys to God. The mission of the music program is to enhance and enrich our liturgical worship with beautiful, reflective and appropriate hymns, anthems and musical offerings. The choir’s part in that mission is to support the congregation in their sung prayers and to offer special anthems.

Music serves an integral part of our worship at St. Francis. Our music has a long-standing reputation of excellence that continues to serve the parish with a rich variety of offerings. All of our choirs welcome interested singers, ringers and instrumentalists. Please see the links to the right for more information on individual groups/programs.

Assisi choir

The Assisi Choir is the adult choir at St. Francis that performs weekly at our 11 a.m. worship service, as well as on special occasions.

This ensemble has a long history of singing anthems of the masters - Victoria, Byrd, Bach, Schutz, Mozart, Rutter, Mathias, and others. Twice yearly, a chamber orchestra is organized to perform major works.

Weekly rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:15 - 8:15 pm; and, on Sunday mornings from 10:20 - 10:45, in the church.  Anyone interested in sharing their gift of music is welcome in this ensemble; both singers and instrumentalists.

9 am musicians

At our 9 a.m. Family Service, we do a blend of contemporary Christian music and traditional hymns. We invite and encourage both our youth and adult singers and instrumentalists to participate in performing this wonderful worship music!

bronze handbells

The St. Francis Bronze Handbell Ensemble plays on a beautiful three-octave set of Schulmerich Handbells and a three-octave set of Schulmerich Handchimes.

Our ensemble, known as "Bronze" for short, plays at the Sunday 11 a.m. worship service. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 5 p.m. in the church.

Bronze is open to anyone who enjoys the company and camaraderie of like minded "ding-a-lings". You do NOT have to know how to read music to join the fun.
