Lent Light

We can do this
just forty days, for pity’s sake
well, and the Sundays spaced through there too
but look, we are already two days in
We’ve got this!
If we from worldly joys must abstain
it helps to pick the right joys
our design matters
don’t pick chocolate
that one is done to death
pick, say, veal:
so, no veal this Lent
here is another advantage
if sixty can be the new forty
and orange the new black
I am sure “cutting back”
can be the new “fasting”
At happy hour have one drink less
make it “tolerable hour
and you’re golden
